Xiaomi India Launches a Redmi 12 Series in 5G and 4G mobile in India: Price, specifications and other details

Redmi India has finally taken the wraps off its Redmi 12 series, comprising the Redmi 12 5G and the Redmi 12 4G versions. The Redmi 12 4G variant had already been launched in global markets, featuring the Mediatek Helio G88 processor, while the Redmi 12 5G made its global debut today with a release in the Indian market.

The launch event also witnessed the unveiling of other wearables, including the Redmi Watch 3 Active, Redmi SonicBass Wireless Earphones 2, and the Xiaomi TV X series.

Redmi 12 5G: Pricing and availability

The Redmi 12 5G offers three configurations to cater to different user preferences:

4 GB + 128 GB: Rs 11,999

6 GB + 128 GB: Rs 13,499

8 GB + 128 GB: Rs 15,499

This 5G variant will be available for purchase on August 4, starting at 12 pm. Additionally, ICICI bank customers can avail of an instant discount of up to Rs 1,000. The Redmi 12 5G can be purchased from the brand's official website as well as Amazon.

 

Redmi 12 4G: Pricing and availability

 

The Redmi 12 4G also provides two configurations:

 

4 GB + 128 GB: Rs 9,999

6 GB + 128 GB: Rs 11,499

The sale of the 4G variant will begin simultaneously on August 4, at 12 pm. Just like its 5G counterpart, the Redmi 12 4G can also be purchase at a discount of Rs 1,000 via an ICIC Bank debit/credit card. The smartphone will be available on Xiaomi's official website, and Flipkart for purchase.

 

Both the Redmi 12 5G and Redmi 12 4G are available in three colour options: Blue, Silver, and Black.

The Redmi 12 5G boasts a 6.79-inch FHD+ LCD display panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 550 nits, and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. The phone features a dual-camera setup on the rear, comprising a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP macro lens. For selfies, the device is equipped with an 8 MP front-facing camera.

Under the hood, the Redmi 12 5G packs a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, which is built on a 4nm Qualcomm process. It also comes with a Mali-G52 GPU and offers configurations with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB of eMMC 5.1 inbuilt storage. Notably, the phone also boasts 8 GB virtual RAM to enhance multitasking capabilities.

 

The device is fueled by a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 18 W fast charging. The Redmi 12 5G runs on MIUI 14, based on Android 13. Other notable features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IP53 rating for dust and splash resistance, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection on both sides.

The Redmi 12 4G also offers a glass back panel, accompanied by silver metallic rims surrounding the camera lenses. The phone runs on MIUI 14, based on Android 13, and comes with MIUI dialler.

Featuring the MediaTek Helio G88 processor, the Redmi 12 4G also sports a 6.79-inch FHD+ display, with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The phone's design includes a punch-hole notch on the front.

 Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery with 18 W fast charging support with a weight of around 198.5 grams.

 The Redmi 12 4G sports a 50 MP primary camera, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. The selfie camera on the front is an 8 MP shooter.
